WhatsApp is leveling up its video calls with a bunch of new tools, adding a fun and personal touch to your virtual hangouts. The messaging app now lets you use augmented reality (AR) filters and custom backgrounds during video chats, similar to what you’d see on platforms like Zoom or Google Meet. These updates give users more ways to express themselves or keep things private while on a call.
WhatsApp says the new features help you personalize your video calls, whether you want to make them more engaging or professional. Instead of the usual plain video feed, users can add filters that bring warmth, color, or artistic effects to the screen. You can also use the new background options to blur your surroundings or swap them out for something more creative, which is perfect for when you’re chatting with someone new or want to hide a messy room.
What New Filters Does WhatsApp Offer?
WhatsApp Video Call and Custom Backgrounds Update: WhatsApp has rolled out 10 AR filters, including options like Warm, Cool, Black & White, Dreamy, Prism Light, Fisheye, Vintage TV, Frosted Glass, and Duo Tone. Each one adds its own unique style to your video. Whether you want a nostalgic retro look with Vintage TV or a soft glow with Dreamy, there’s something for everyone.
Along with the filters, WhatsApp also introduced 11 custom backgrounds, such as Blur, Office, Café, Beach, Celebration, and Forest. These backgrounds let you change the vibe of your call or simply blur out your surroundings for more privacy.
Extra Video Call Features
On top of that, WhatsApp is adding tools to enhance video quality. There are touch-up options to smooth your appearance and low-light adjustments for better clarity when lighting isn’t ideal. These tweaks ensure your video feed looks sharp and professional, even in less-than-perfect conditions.
How to Use the New WhatsApp Filters
Using these features is easy. Just tap the effects icon in the top-right corner of your screen during a call and pick your favourite filter or background. The update works for both one-on-one and group calls.
WhatsApp Update is rolling out globally over the next few weeks, so if you’re using Android or iPhone, you can expect to see them soon. Get ready to make your video calls more fun, professional, and personal!
